Past Layouts

Here are some of the past layouts of SKoW, going back to when SKoW first opened. Click on the thumbnail of the layout to see a larger version.

Also, many, many thanks goes to Esmeralda for her help in obtaining screen shots for Round 1 and Round 2's layouts.

Layout featured on the site during Round One and in between Round One and Two. The graphic was made by me and the layout is coded by me. The theme for Round One was Movies, in honor of the site's namesake, the movie Some Kind of Wonderful. This layout was so very bad, mostly because I was so new to the site-owning gig and I didn't have fantastic graphics specialists helping me out like I do now.

Layout featured on the site during Round Two. The theme for Round Two was Polaroids. This was mostly because it was the easiest style of graphics that I could have done back then in the short amount of time between the voting period and the announcement of the winners. You'll notice the graphics and the layout is a little cleaner and the colors much better. Simply put, I improved. (:

Layout featured in between Round Two and Three. The top banner was made by a fan named Carmen, while I coded the rest of the layout. (Notice the difference between graphics made by me and graphics made by other people -- very noticeable!) The background hasn't quite been fixed yet during the time of this screenshot, which is why all the fonts look and stuff look a little awkward.

Layout featured on the site in between Round Two and Three. The graphic was made by a fan named Erin and coded by me. If you were wondering where third button under "Link to Us" came from, there's your answer. You'll notice that we only have five people on staff (although only four of them were actually active). The general look of the layout is very different since, well, it was coded by me.

Layout featured on the site during the Round Three nomination period. The layout was made by Nic, one of our lovely graphics specialists, and also coded by her. The theme was "TV Shows". The TV shows featured on the layout include Friends, Grey's Anatomy Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Desperate Housewives, to name a few. I didn't get to take a screenshot of this while it was being featured on the site, so here's a screenshot from the version that Nic had sent me (hence the sketchy text).

Layout featured on the site during the Round Three voting period. The layout was made by Nic and also coded by her. The theme was "TV Shows". The TV show featured on this layout is Desperate Housewives. This screenshot was actually authentic, as you may see with the date on the "Voting period ends on..". I love the colors in this layout since Round Three was a winter round.

Layout featured on the site after the Round Three winners were announced. The layout was made by Nic and also coded by her. The theme was still following the "TV Shows" theme. The TV shows featured on this layout include Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Jailbreak, and Lost, to name a few. This screenshot is also authentic. The award graphics for Round Three were based on portions of this layout.

Layout featured on the site during the Round Four nomination period. The layout was made by Nic and also coded by her. The theme was "Song Lyrics". The song featured is called "Sunshine" by Vertical Horizon. I adored the colors in this layout since it was still technically Spring when this was released and on the verge of Summer.

Layout featured on the site during the first part of Round Four voting period. The layout was made by Nic and also coded by her. The theme was "Song Lyrics". The song featured is called "The Tide" by The Spill Canvas. I am so in love with this song, which is partly why this layout is so amazing. This is also the first layout we've ever had that was right-aligned.

Layout featured on the site during the second part of Round Four voting period. The layout was made by Leila and coded by me. The theme was still "Song Lyrics". The song featured is "Before It's Too Late" by Goo Goo Dolls. This is the first layout by our new graphics specialist Leila. I love the stripes in the background. The tagboard was moved up further in the layout so that the navigation and content was a bit more.. ergonomic. (I'm not sure if that's the right word for it.) They're just more in-sync, so you don't have to keep scrolling up and down to click on a link and see where it ends up.

Layout featured on the site after the winners of Round Four were announced. The layout was made by Nic and also coded by her. The theme was still "Song Lyrics". The song featured is "Warmer Climate" by Snow Patrol. The the title of the song is misspelled on the layout, but I still think it's gorgeous the way the lyrics and the graphics coincide with each other. This layout ended up having a ridiculously long scrollbar, which was my fault, since I didn't want a scrollbar within a scrollbar.

Layout featured on the site after the winners of Round Four were announced. The layout was made by Nic and also coded by her. This was the last layout that was featured with iframes. There was no specific theme to this -- I just felt like changing the layout and Nic was very enthusiastic about the idea and voila! I love the glamorous look of the site and just how coutoure it looks. (:

Layout featured on the site after the switch to the new site. The layout was made by Nic and also coded by her. This was the first layout featured on the new site, on the new formatting. There is a larger content box and a wider sidebar. The theme to this one was close to the theme of Round Five, which was "Seasons of Love".

Layout featured on the site for the majority of Round Five. The layout was designed and made by Leila, and also coded by her. I absolutely loved the detailing on this layout and fabulous winter-y colors. Since winter is going to be over soon enough, we decided to move onto warmer climates with our next layout. The theme for this one was "Seasons of Love".

Layout featured on the site after the winners of Round Five were announced and in between Rounds Five and Six. This layout was designed and made by Nic, and also coded by her. The lines and overlapping colors and designs on this layout astounded me. I like the dropping flowers as well. They provided geometric detailing to the layout, which pleased me to no end. This was the "warmer climate" that we spoke of in the previous layout. Although the sidebar says otherwise, the theme featured was "Seasons of Love".

Layout featured on the site before Round Six began. The layout was designed and made by Leila, and also coded by her. The graphic featured on this layout was an editorial shoot that Annie Leibovitz did for Disney. Leila seriously read my mind when she was making this graphic. I was thinking of this exact photo when thinking of this theme. The theme for Round Six was "Fairytales".

Layout featured on the site during Round Six's nomination period. The layout was made by Jamie and coded by yours truly. The graphic featured on this layout was another editorial shoot that Annie Leibovitz did for Disney, this time with the fairy tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. The mixture of the red, blue, and yellow in this layout blew me away. The theme for Round Six was "Fairytales".

Layout featured on the site after Round Six's winners were announced. The layout was made by Leila and coded by her, as well. The graphic fit in with the theme of "Fairytales" in that it was a lovely fairytale castle.

Layout featured on the site before Round Seven began. This was Evie's debut layout as a GS for the site. The new stylesheet was created by her as well. The graphic was a sort of outlier to any of the themes as I just requested Evie to pull together a layout so I could switch it up a bit. Evie's wonderful that way.

Layout featured on the site during Round Seven's nomination period. This was Evie's second layout for us at SKoW. It continues on in her style of the graphic melding in with the background. I love how violent and beautiful it is at the same time. Admire, admire, admire!

Layout featured on the site during Round Seven's voting period. This was Evie's third layout in a row for us at SKoW. It diverges from her usual style in that the background is a prominent diagonal pattern. It features the Seven Deadly Sin envy and also crosses over into vanity.

Layout featured on the site after Round Seven's winners were announced. This was Evie's FOURTH layout in a row for us at SKoW! Evie pretty much made all the layouts during Round Seven. We had some difficulties working out our visions over this layout as this was supposed to portray greed. Money apparently cannot be copied into photoshop. Hah.

Layout featured on the site before Round Eight begun. This was Charlotte's first layout for SKoW, her debut layout. It had a wonderful summer feel to it, which was perfect since the period before Round Eight was spring transitioning to summer. It was gorgeous.

Layout featured on the site during Round Eight's nomination period. This was Nic's first layout for us in a while. It features Round Eight's theme Candyland. The candy featured here are Lifesavers.

Layout featured on the site during Round Eight's voting period. This was the second layout in a row for Nic, featuring some candy hearts for our Candyland theme. There have been many comments about how summery and wonderful this is and I totally agree. :) You may notice how the navigation has changed. I decided to mess around with a little javascript, and ta-da! A new navigation on the sidebar. Allows for a less cluttered sidebar, don't you think?

Layout featured on the site after Round Eight's winners were announced. This was one of Leila's lovely creations. I enjoy the lollipop and the bright colors in this layout. :) The butterflies were also a nice touch. The crazy background took a little bit to get used to, but it's a nice touch to the overall look.

Layout featured on the site before Round Nine's nomination period began. This was a Nic creation. Absolutely stunning, don't you think? I had it up for a very long time. I'm still not quite tired of it but I felt the need for a change. It's wonderful and simple and amazing. It was easy on the eyes too.

Layout featured on the site during nomination period of Round Nine. This was an Evie masterpiece. She did so well! When I had a vision for a Futuristic layout (since it was the theme of this round), this came very, very close to it. This is simply stunning. I just.. have no words?

Layout featured on the site during the voting period of Round Nine. This was another Nic masterpiece. It's so cute and fun and happy, yet it still fits the theme so well. The theme for this one was Futuristic, hence rockets. I had no words when I first saw this. I still show it off to my friends, honestly. It's adorable, yet it portrays the futuristic quality that I wanted for this round. Exciting!

Layouts featured on the site during Round Ten. Round Ten's theme was "Around the World", in celebration of the World Cup. Each layout represents a country. The countries featured, in order are: Brazil (Nic), Switzerland (Nic), Japan (Nic), France (Charlotte), South Korea (Jamie), Australia (Evie), Spain (Evie)

Layout featured on the site during Round Eleven's nomination period. Round Eleven's theme was "Casino Royale", inspired by the movie of the same name and the other movie "Ocean's Eleven". This particular layout was made by Anda, one of our new graphics specialists, as her debut layout. Very elegant and tasteful, don't you think?

Layout featured on the site during Round Eleven's voting period. This particular layout was again made by Anda. A stunner to be sure. I loved the use of the font to highlight the name while there was a giant roulette in the background.

Layout featured on the site after Round Eleven. I have no idea who did this layout. This layout was submitted to me ages ago for consideration, and I saved the file but neglected to mark it as for who. Please, if this is your layout, let me know so I can properly credit you!

Layout featured on the site during Round Twelve's nomination period. This stunner was made by Erin, who is a new graphics specialist with SKoW. The theme for this round was "Heroes", and thus this one features the Spiderman reboot with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.

Layout featured on the site during Round Twelve's voting period. This layout was made by Charlotte. Brave is one of my favorite Disney Pixar movies, so this layout stayed on the site for a very long time. In fact, it stayed on the site from the voting period of Round Twelve all the way up until Round Thirteen started. It was also the header for our Facebook page for quite some time. Charlotte did wonderfully.

Layout featured on the during Round Thirteen's nomination period. This layout is Erin's second for the site overall. The theme for Round Thirteen was "Reflections", so as you can see, there are mirror images. To inspire the graphics specialists, I threw out the possibilities of bodies of water, mirrors, twins, Dorian Gray, Mulan, etc. You'll see in the next few layouts what they came up with. (They're quite innovative.)
